Mónica Lucía Suárez Beltrán. Bogotá, Colombia. Professional in literary studies and master’s degree in education from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She has published literary texts such as Tenues y tonos, Colorario de ciudad (2008), award-winning poems at the Anidia publishing house, Salamanca (Spain). Guest writer to international festivals, publishing compiled texts. Her book of poems Cinco movimientos y medio en el espacio (Babilonia, 2017) has been notable for creating a dialogue between the visual arts and dance. Released Madeja de voces (Nueva Luz 21, 2019) and Anatomy of the fog select poems (2021) in the Friday Poetry Series (UN publications). She is also a researcher, district councilor for culture and literature in Bogotá, and leader of Poesía Expandida Colombia (Expanded Poetry Colombia).
Lo que hacen las palabras
Las palabras no brillan son de piedra natura de pasto de laguna.
Las palabras no visten apenas se cubren de voces desnudas.
Caminan las palabras cicatrizan desangran se cubren se destapan.
Las palabras no hablan se posan en la hoja se lanzan. Buscan su lugar en el mundo, emigran las palabras.
Y luego sedentarias siembran una raíz abren tierra mojada para nacer despacio para aprender un gesto una mirada.

What Words Do
Words do not shine they are made of stone, nature pasture lagoon.
Words do not dress they barely cover themselves with naked voices.
Words walk heal bleed cover themselves uncover themselves.
Words do not speak they place on the page they hurl themselves.
They seek their place in the world, words migrate.
And then sedentary words sow a root they open wet soil to be born slowly to learn a gesture a look.
